There is a quiet confident and depth of knowledge and experience that is discovered in a conversation with Jim. He does not forcefully put this in the face of the client but demonstrates it in the process of uncovered the client needs. For me, the focus on what I needed and how I needed to understand an issue is what sets him apart from others in the coaching and consulting field.
To explain further, Jim is always very good at helping me as an executive discover and uncover what needs to be improved on as a leader in a way that makes it comfortable and doable for me. It can be a very vulnerable moment that needs careful handling. Once this level of trust is established, Jim does an outstanding job of pushing for feedback and evidence that the new skills are being developed and used. Ultimately to me, his value is in the change that he helped bring about in me and other he has coached at my firm and with colleagues I know at other firms.

I contacted Jim when I was director of Internet Services at Price Waterhouse Coopers.
Jim helped me manage the turbulent changing environment there helping me to focus on what I was trying to achieve and accomplish in my multiply interfacing with clients, peers and owners.
I hired Jim Oher based on two key metrics, success and trustworthiness.
I had seen his work first hand, changing a corporate bull in a china shop into a highly production member of an executive team whose reputation turned around in an under a year. As I had a close personal relationship with said bull in a china shop, I had a clear understand of how wildly successful his work was, even when presented with a very hard situation.
Trustworthiness is a tougher issue. Jim and I spoke at length in our initial meetings about what I hoped to achieve. He clarified where my personal boundaries were with regarding to professional counseling and never once pushed beyond them. Quickly, I came to trust him with personal information to understand my professional challenges. My trust in him was rewarded as I began to apply his insightful advice and developed skills and insights unknown to me before. He is a keen observer and pointed out small changes that when adopted, had huge positive impacts. The metrics held true throughout our work.

Jim was recommended to me by an attorney from a very prestigious law firm. I had a very difficult but talented executive that had put the company at risk on too many occasions. I hired Jim to help me with this executive. Unfortunately two coaches had already fired themselves from the case after meeting this brilliant yet arrogant and exasperating executive. Jim worked with the executive for over six months and we slowly started to see changes in his behavior. The executive would catch himself before being disruptive or offensive and would apologize for the consequences of his behavior something he had never done before. When I asked Jim how he was able to get through to his executive Jim said, Never back down from a bully. Understand what brought on this and behavior identify the cause and effect relationship and never give up trying to help.
